London walking tour highlights (Jan 8th)

  1. Duke of Wellington (fought napolean in the battle of waterloo and built the british empire later becoming the prime minister of England). He was also known as the iron duke because of the iron bars on his windows at 1 London st. his official residence.
  2. Arch de triomphe was used as mirror for the wellington arch like napolean's. Later the goddess of peace was the statue on top of the arch replace the duke.
  3. 6 Milliion pound was the price paid for Buckingham palace. 
  4. Queen Victoria was the longest reign in monarchy for 63 yrs on throne married to price Albert.
  5. King George moved from st james palace to Buckingham
  6. St James was built by henry 8ths who had 6 wives because he wanted a son and had to make reforms to his religion
  7. Katherine of Aragon from Spain (catholic country) to get a divorce must be granted from the pope.
  8. Henry created the church of England; protestant church. And appointed himself as the head.
